Google Gemini drops Skills for Agent-ready prompt formats

Google launches Gemini chat with Skills, replacing closed Gems format for agent-ready prompt formats. Users save instructions as Skills and invoke by typing "/" + name. Skills support text documents and images, enabling multi-chain workflows for brand guidelines and style. Gems shut down for personal accounts in November, enterprise in March 2027, and education in June 2027. Existing Gems convert to Skills automatically.
